Sleeping Workers, A Charging Leopard And One Man's Split-Second Action

A hair-raising video of the moment a group of farm workers were saved from a leopard prowling in darkness is going viral on social media. The video, captured on a mobile phone, shows the workers fast asleep after a day of hard work and the big cat, sensing an opportunity, strolling towards them. The close shave happened near Maharashtra's Navegaonbandh National Park in Gondia district and the motorist has been identified as Manish Nevare. Nevare told reporters that he was out for a drive with his friends when he spotted the prowling leopard. Sensing danger, he repeatedly sounded the car horn and followed the animal in his vehicle. The leopard's spotted coat is illuminated by the headlights of Nevare's car as he chases the animal by his car. Gondia district is currently in the paddy harvesting and threshing seas...

"We may do another little Epic Fury, or they'll agree,” Trump said as reported by Fox News. "If they're smart, they'll just say, 'Let's get down to business.' Trump's 'Epic Fury' Warning After US Envoy's 'Strike This Weekend' Remark, Iran Responds

US President Donald Trump has warned of launching another round of military strikes against Iran - what he called a "little Epic Fury" - if Tehran fails to reach an agreement with Washington. "We may do another little Epic Fury, or they'll agree. If they're smart, they'll just say, let's get down to business," he said during a Republican campaign rally in Florida. Trump, however, did not outline the conditions Iran would have to meet to prevent another round of military action. 'Operation Epic Fury' was a joint military campaign launched by the US and Israel against Iran in February that triggered the months-long ongoing war. The attack resulted in the death of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family members. During his address, Trump also referred to the other previous military action against Iran - Operation Midnight Hammer - claiming they had destroyed the country's nuclear enrichment capabilities and sev...

S Jaishankar's 'Indira' Reminder After Rahul Gandhi's Marco Rubio Jibe

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said Thursday he failed to understand the hullabaloo about his visit to Mumbai to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which Rahul Gandhi termed as "summoning".   The Minister said he "failed to get it".  "They don't like Mumbai. They have something against Mumbai. It's our financial capital. It's our Bollywood capital. It has got so much going for it. Maybe Mumbai doesn't like them. I have no idea. Why they have this reservation," Jaishankar, speaking at NDTV World Summit, said. The 71-year-old Minister, a former diplomat, said he can list out very many examples where leaders have travelled out of Delhi to meet a foreign leader.  He cited two examples from the Congress: Indira Gandhi meeting Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in Shimla in 1972 to sign the Shimla Agreement and Salman Khurshid, a minister in the Manmohan Singh government, hosting a lunch for the then Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in Ja...

You're a foreign agent if you question: Annamalai slams CJP arrests, BJP responds

Former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai has escalated his attack on the Centre over the Delhi Police crackdown on Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders, questioning the legality of preventive detention procedures and accusing the government of branding dissenters as "foreign agents" instead of answering their questions. "In a democracy, if you question the violation of due process of law, you are called various names," he wrote. He also claimed that the BJP was boosting the popularity of CJP leaders through their detentions and continued police action against them. Annamalai's comments came a day after he termed the Delhi Police's actions on CJP a "real disservice" and defended the organisation's democratic right to raise critical questions. The BJP hit back, accusing Annamalai of double standards and reversing his stand on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls after quitting the party. Annamalai, who left the BJP in June, said ...

Trump eases Russia oil sanctions, but is Europe still buying Moscow’s gas?

United States President Donald Trump has signed an executive order waiving newly-passed Russia sanctions, claiming the move is in the US’s “national interest”. Earlier this month, Trump also announced a deal to bring stocks of Russian diesel into global markets, in a bid to drive down energy prices that have spiked during the US-Israel war on Iran. The US Treasury waived sanctions on Russian diesel sales until April 2027. Trump’s embrace of Russian energy has angered Ukraine, European partners and many US officials, who say the move rewards Moscow while it continues its four-and-a-half-year war against its neighbour. Ukraine’s President Volodmyr Zelenskyy slammed Trump’s diesel deal as “a gift” to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin that will help fund his war effort. While European countries have also criticised Trump’s embrace of Russian energy, the US president has accused them of “hypocrisy”, as figures show that European Union countries continue to import Russian gas. Here’s what we...

CJP, Abhijeet Dipke: India's 'cockroach' protesters set to return despite police crackdown

Thousands of 'cockroach' protesters are set to return to the streets of Delhi on Friday, days after police prevented their last mass demonstration and two of their leaders were jailed. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-led movement seeking electoral reforms, has called on supporters to gather at Central Park in Connaught Place, a busy commercial district. The call follows the jailing of two CJP leaders for five days after they entered Jantar Mantar, a protest site recently declared off-limits by police. What began as a campaign against alleged electoral fraud has since become a wider fight over the right to protest. Central Park is not an approved protest venue either. On Thursday evening, Delhi police warned protesters to stay away from Connaught Place, saying orders restricting public gatherings were already in place and anyone breaking them could face legal action. Authorities also said the venue Central Park, a leafy public space surrounded by Connaught Place's w...

BREAKING | Converts To Non-Hindu Religions Can't Claim Backward Class Quota Solely Based On...

The Supreme Court today(October 15) upheld the judgment of the Madras High Court, which held that a person converting to Islam was not entitled to backward class reservation based on their pre-conversion status. A bench comprising Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Shree Chandrashekhar dismissed the challenge the Tamil Nadu government preferred against the High Court's order. It ordered: "A person who converts to Islam by that act alone doesn't become a member of one of the seven notified backward class social communities in the State. His former caste status can't be transposed to the Muslim backward class category, nor can his private religious body conclusively determine such status entitlement." The bench pronounced the following conclusions :     A person who converts from the Hindu social order to a non-Hindu social order cannot claim affirmative action under Article 16(4) of the Constitution merely on the basis of social backwardness associated with ...
